Jump to RecipeA simple, savory marinade with an Asian inspired flair! Perfect for fish, steak, chicken or even vegetables!
Perhaps wishful thinking, but my urge to take this dinner show on the road (and by “on the road” I mean my back deck grill) is becoming undeniable! Longing for the convenience of less dishes, more time outside, that marvelously meaty charred flavor that only the grill can achieve- just yes, yes and YES!
Last week blessed with a 60 degree day and not a cloud in the pale blue sky, my dreams were answered and I finally got a chance to throw another “shrimp on the bar-bee”
Well, in this case it was a Flank Steak.. but you know what I mean!
I whisked up a simple, savory, subtly sweet and spicy Miso based bath for my beefy friend, and the results were PURE MAGIC! Oozing with Umami goodness and less than 5 minutes to make, I unapologetically ask you.. “why the flank not!?!”

Ingredients for 5 MINUTE Miso-Ginger Marinade
White miso paste or “Shiro”, which has more a mellow and delicate flavor than Red or Yellow miso paste.
Garlic & Ginger : Fresh garlic clove and ginger root is recommended.
Soy Sauce: Coconut Amino would also be fine if trying to remain Gluten Free.
Brown Sugar or Honey: for a touch of sweetness
Oil: I used canola oil, a different high smoke point oil would be fine.
Gochujang: A fermented Chile paste concentrate that adds spice and an umami complexity. If you don’t have this ingredient try using Sriracha instead.
